The S-Type is in the middle of Jaguar's sedan lineup, a step above the entry-level X-Type, but not as expensive as a full-size XJ. It's full of styling cues from previous Jaguars, in particular the 1960's MK Series. With its unique grille and headlights, expressive sheetmetal and sumptuous Jaguar interior, the S-Type is for those who can afford a BMW or Mercedes-Benz, yet desire a car with a more regal heritage. Indeed, the S-Type's British feel is one of its strongest selling points, despite it sharing its basic architecture with the Lincoln LS. Though no slouch in the performance department—especially the high-performance R—the S-Type is most appealing to those who seek a coach that coddles its occupants in the finest leathers, wood trim and chrome accents.
